Deep-Breathing Chakra Meditation

Instructions

  • Find a quiet place.

  • Sit comfortably on the floor or in a chair.

  • Place your hands on your legs with palms facing upwards.

  • Close your eyes if that’s comfortable for you or have a soft gaze.

  • Place your hands on your abdomen.

  • Start with one deep breath in.

  • As you inhale through your nose, feel your abdomen expand as you slowly count to four.

  • Hold the air in your lungs for a count of four.

  • Exhale the air out of your mouth for a count of four.

  • Hold the air out of your lungs for a count of four.

  • Continue this breath as you visualize each of the chakras.

  • Visualize the root chakra at the base of your spine. You can visualize it as a red flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your root chakra.

  • Visualize the sacral chakra right below your navel. You can visualize it as an orange flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your root chakra.

  • Visualize the solar plexus chakra right below your navel. You can visualize it as a yellow flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your solar plexus chakra.

  • Visualize the heart chakra, located near your heart, in the center of your chest. You can visualize it as a green flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your heart chakra.

  • Visualize the throat chakra, located at the base of your throat. You can visualize it as a blue flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your throat chakra.

  • Visualize the third eye chakra, located on your forehead, between your eyebrows. You can visualize it as an indigo flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your third eye chakra.

  • Visualize the crown chakra, located at the top of your head. You can visualize it as a violet flower or whatever is most meaningful to you. Imagine it expanding as you engage your breath in and out. Do 3 to 5 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize your crown chakra.

  • Do another 7 rounds of in and out breaths while you visualize each of the seven chakras per each of the 7 rounds.

  • Finish the meditation by taking a couple of natural breaths in and out.
